The Child and Adult Care Food Program

CACFP

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded initiative, managed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). Its goal is to ensure that eligible children and adults in approved non-residential care settings receive nutritious meals.

To achieve this, CACFP offers reimbursements to qualified caregivers for the meals and snacks they provide to participants. While FNS establishes the regulations and policies governing the program, state agencies oversee its administration at the state level and support local sponsors in their implementation efforts.
