The Child and Adult Care Food Program
CACFP
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded initiative administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through its Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). The program’s purpose is to ensure that eligible children and adults in approved non-residential care settings have access to nutritious meals and snacks.
CACFP provides reimbursements to qualified caregivers for the meals they serve, helping offset costs and support healthier food choices. While the FNS sets national regulations and policies, state agencies are responsible for program administration and work with local sponsors to carry out implementation.
